I live in Slanghoek. The fire was very intense. The fire broke out on Saturday late afternoon and got out of control due to strong winds on Saturday night. 3 Helicopters and many fire squad teams were battling the fire in the valley on Sunday.

What a rollercoaster of a harvest. The window is now closing fast on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir but we are happy with the base wine so far. When in passing Rbertson please pop-in – we will share some base wines!

Nice post of Edo!

Edo says ”Gastro Porn” is a term used to describe photos of fancy food that are dominating cyberspace. It made me think about what he was getting at. To put this in context, as I also like to take photographs of things I love whether eating, drinking, seeing and so on, as a picture are = to a thousand words they say! Easy to remember and brings back memories.

So on Sunday, I was lucky to share a wine with a mate of mine from Australia. He introduced me to ‘wine porn’ Ya, having a wine called Naked on Skates by Some Young Punks (see the label) is so apt! Now does this express the fact of – now am I bragging or sharing? It is definitely not name dropping, with a name like that! How I wish that I could drink more fancy labels and why not funky and sexy one’s from time to time as long the wine in the glass falls right on the palate.

My humble exprience updating and tweeting to all my fans is, yes they do care and certainly cheer’s me up ! Maybe there is some sense in ”Gastro-Vino Porn” !! Bring it on.

If taking pictures of food adds to your enjoyment thereof, by all means take as many as you like! The bragging part is what gets to me.

Thanks for the tip about the Playbook. Maybe I can convince WineLand that this is an absolutely critical part of the modern journalist’s gear!

Lovely post, Edo. I must admit that I am inclined to obsessively photograph food when I’m eating out, but that is perhaps because I write about the stuff so much. I don’t necessarily tweet or FB post it though, unless I consider it really of interest to my followers/friends.
As you note, there is fine line between sharing and bragging. But here’s another thought: What if you’re having a really bad experience at a hospitality outlet? Would that be considered of interest and worth sharing? and if you want your Blackberry battery to last, buy a Playbook. You do everything except make/receive calls on it, and suddenly your phone battery lasts three days …. and your Playbook battery will last about 16 to 18 hours. Just saying.
