Contemporary design and understated elegance takes place during the fifth annual Protea party on Saturday, 27 October 2018, at the Anthonij Rupert Estate outside Franschhoek.
Anthonij Rupert Estate’s annual Protea party, which commemorates its prestigious Protea wine series, has already established itself as a highlight of the Franschhoek Wine Valley social calendar. Creative design, inspired seasonal food, outstanding wines and generous hospitality comes together to make an unforgettable evening under the stars.
The Protea range, consisting of eight single-cultivar wines, is named after the famous flower species unique to the Cape Flower Kingdom, and is synonymous with elegant design and value for money. The theme for this year’s Protea party is ‘contemporary floral’, inspired by the international trend of using large-scale flower-wallpapers, materials and printing to create strong and imaginative spaces. With the severe drought in the Western Cape in mind, it is important for the Protea brand to expand its environmental awareness beyond just the concept of recycling for reuse.
“Water is, of course, a very important resource and it has led to creativity in various fields,” said Gidi Caetano, hospitality manager at Anthonij Rupert Wines. “We are excited to showcase new ideas for the use of ‘watering’ flowers in large spaces.”
Guests at this year’s Protea party will be greeted on arrival with Protea-inspired cocktails and sundowners. Dinner, consisting of a three-course meal of seasonal products from the wine-growing countries, will be enjoyed at the long table in the market tent.
The full Protea wine range will be enjoyed throughout the evening. Entertainment will be provided by a band and a dance floor for those with endless energy or guests who just want to get rid of the calories.
“We regard it as an exciting milestone to host the Protea party this year for the fifth time and it shows that this social event was never destined to be a once-off but rather a strong move towards a more sustainable lifestyle,” says Gidi. “We are delighted to celebrate this vision of a more sustainable lifestyle this year with our guests.”
Tickets cost R695 per guest and include all food, wine and entertainment. The Protea party kick off at 18:00 for 18:30. For more information or pre-discussion, contact Sumarie Elliot on 021 874 9019 or email@example.com.
