Land Summit: ‘The Land Solution’ (Farmers’ Perspective) | 23-24 August 2018

by | Aug 2, 2018 | Blog, Lifestyle, News

With expropriation without compensation on everyone’s lips, it is easy to forget that South African agriculture has developed some of the world’s leading transformation projects over the last 23 years.

Landbouweekblad and Agri SA therefore decided to offer a groundbreaking land summit where farmers can engage with each other including various stakeholders and relevant organisations.

Over the course of two days, delegates can listen to farmers, agribusinesses and other experts who have achieved success on everything from communal and restitution land to family farms. They will share their insights on how they manage it, why they did it and where they got the money.

Come be part of the positive story that South African agriculture can tell to the world about why expropriation without compensation isn’t necessary and how farmers can help make our countryside flourish again.

The Land Summit, to be held on 23-24 August 2018 at Wildswinkel’s auction room in Bela-Bela, Limpopo, will emphasize the plans that farmers have already made about transformation and land reform and how they’ve managed to apply it on their farms and within their communities.

Commercial and small farmers, subsistence farmers, tribe leaders, chiefs, municipal farmers, financiers, agricultural enterprises, service providers, policy makers and technical experts will all be exposed to the best business practices regarding land reform, successful case studies and the exchange of ideas. Case studies will be presented by farmers, agricultural enterprises, financiers and investors.

The summit wants answers provided by experts for the critical questions that influence the successful application of thoughtful land reform projects, such as:

  • How do we trust each other again?
  • How do we revive good neighbourly leadership and mentorship?
  • What do we revive farming in the municipal areas?
  • How do we renew relationships in rural communities?
  • How do we change farm workers’ future?
  • How do we let agricultural production thrive?
  • What plans do we have with restitution farms and farm establishment?
  • How do black farmers experience agriculture and farming?
  • Which financing models are available?
