Premium wine distributors and brand marketers, Meridian Wine Merchants, in association with the Cape Wine Academy (CWA) and Leopard’s Leap Wines,  are offering waiters an opportunity to enrol for a CWA Wine Service Course – free of charge!

Courses are offered to 50 wine service professionals in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, and will be taking place in March 2019.

This is a huge opportunity for waiters and hospitality staff in Cape Town and Johannesburg’s wine and service-related industries to broaden their expertise, level-up their skills and grow their careers.

Conducted by the industry-endorsed CWA, the Wine Service Course sets a standard for wine service training for the South African wine and service industry.

This one-day course covers important foundational aspects on the industry, including the wine service ritual, the art of wine selling and food and wine pairing. The course also introduces waiters to practical wine tasting skills familiarising them with different cultivars and styles with Leopard’s Leap wines.

According to On Consumption Channel Manager, Aileen Prins, this initiative hopes to inspire a passion for wine and a culture of food and wine appreciation to elevate service and wine engagement in South Africa’s tourist centers.

“The ability to talk about and serve wine with confidence is a much valued skill in the hospitality industry, but not everyone has the opportunity to study wine appreciation. We are delighted to give 100 waiters and wine service professionals in our community a tangible leap up in their career beginning with this CWA Wine Service course.”

The course details are as follows:

18 March, Woodmead Country Club, Johannesburg
25 March, The President Hotel in Cape Town

Interested waiters must join the Meridian Waiter’s Friend Community on Facebook, and enrol for the events on the same platform.
