Morgenster extra virgin olive oil from the Estate in Somerset West outside Cape Town has for the sixth year been awarded 98% by the authoritative international Flos Olei guide (2019 edition) which assesses the world’s best olive oils.

This score places Morgenster among the best olive oils in the world and was the highest score given to a South African olive oil.  It once again represents South Africa among the world’s top producers, particularly those in Spain, Italy and Chile, countries which have historically dominated the industry.

Morgenster extra virgin olive oil 2018 harvest has a clean and elegant mouth feel with a good balance of fresh peppery, pungent and bitter notes. It is available at selected delicatessens and retailers nationwide as well as from the Estate’s tasting room.

Prices: The Estate’s flagship Morgenster extra virgin olive oil is a secret blend of 14 Italian olive varieties. 500 ml retails around R130. 

Single cultivar Don Carlo (a robust oil) and single cultivar Monte Marcello (delicate) extra virgin olive oils each retail for around R144 for 500 ml.
