After 30 years at the helm, viticulturist and winemaker at GlenWood Vineyards DP Burger is handing over the reigns to his assistant winemaker Natasha Pretorius. DP will stay on as cellar master and manager at this prestigious wine estate in Franschhoek.
Natasha joined the team in 2018 and has impressed with her technical knowledge during the production of the estate’s premium wine range during the 2019 and 2020 harvest seasons. She also shares the team’s vision to produce wines of the highest quality for local and international markets.
“Natasha is a valuable member of the GlenWood team and we look forward to her contributions going forward,” says DP.
Natasha hails from Vanderbijlpark and attended school at Driehoek High School before heading to Stellenbosch University where she completed her BSc-degree in microbiology and biotechnology.
She loved microbiology so much that she also completed her honours’ degree in 2014 and then her master’s degree in wine biotechnology in 2016. In between her studies, Natasha also developed a passion for the complexity of wine and the winemaking process. After her studies, she started her career as assistant-winemaker at Doolhof outside Wellington before joining the GlenWood team.
Natasha will officially take up her position from 1 April 2020.
