Shiraz SA will once again host its annual technical workshop and tasting at Kronenburg in Paarl on Thursday 7 November. The workshop has established itself over the years as a very popular item on the wine calendar and is usually fully booked.
According to Edmund Terblanche, chairman of Shiraz SA, the association has worked hard to put together an interesting program. “We really try our best to present topics that are fresh and relevant,” Terblanche says.
2019’s program should be very appealing and will cover a wide range of issues and talking points. Among this year’s topics are the usual discussion and tasting of the 12 winning wines of this year’s Shiraz Challenge. An offering that will no doubt attract interest is a comparative tasting of local mid-level Shiraz wines to their international counterparts. On the viticulture side there are inserts on the use of remote sensing to determine Shiraz wine style as well as ‘Berry shrivelling’.
