TourismX is a prestigious new platform dedicated to recognising outstanding achievements in social media engagement across the tourism industry, including the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.
Set to coincide with Meetings Africa in February 2026, the Awards will become an annual highlight celebrating the organisations and brands that demonstrate innovation, influence, and exceptional digital engagement, helping to elevate the MICE industry on social media.
Nomination Process
Self-nominations are now open and free to the industry. Participants are invited to submit their Facebook page details or links to the organisers.
Data will be extracted from each nominated public Facebook page for the year 2025, with a focus on overall engagement, including likes, comments, shares, and related interactions, to determine the winners in each category.
According to Gerrit Davids, MD of Gerom Media and organiser of the Awards, “Both the TourismX MICE Social Media Awards and the Annual MICE Social Media Report will be launched on 24 February 2026, and they promise to shine a spotlight on the industry’s top social media champions and visionaries.”
“Winners will earn the title of ‘TourismX MICE Social Media Champion of the Year’ in their respective industry categories and will be recognised as leaders in the MICE sector’s digital evolution.”
The Awards will focus exclusively on Facebook, as it is the only social media platform that provides access to hundreds of measurable metrics required to compile the list of winners, and because the majority of businesses maintain an active presence on the platform compared to others.
The Awards feature a comprehensive range of categories that spotlight the diverse players shaping the MICE landscape, from tourism authorities to technology providers.
Social media champions will be announced in the following awards categories:-
- National African Convention Bureau
- Provincial/State Convention Bureau
- MICE Government Support Agency
- Convention Centres
- Conference and Event Venues
- MICE Airline Event Partner
- MICE Media
