The Cape Wine Academy is delighted to announce the appointment of Heidi Duminy as Principal effective 1 July 2020.

“This challenge is only surpassed by the privilege of the opportunity and the support of the Cape Wine Masters and wine industry community who are passionate about wine education in South Africa, “ says Heidi. “In this time of profound change, the constant for the Cape Wine Academy is to offer accessible and relevant wine education for all levels of wine professionals and enthusiasts. Whether you are looking for a fun encounter with wine or a more serious study journey, there must be an engaging and affordable option. Everyone is welcome.”

Heidi is a Cape Wine Master with extensive marketing and communications experience in the wine industry. She has been the Marketing Manager for Meridian Wine Merchants over the last six years and was previously Trade Marketing Manager at RGBC for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy in South Africa and Group Communications for DGB. She is widely known for her particular expertise in Cap Classique and Champagne, and judges on several panels including Amorim Cap Classique Challenge, Veritas and Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated a new age of learning to inspire an inclusive wine culture, and I am excited to advance the dynamic learning experiences that have been initiated without losing the essence of the Cape Wine Academy established over 40 years by heroes of our industry,” says Heidi.

Heidi replaces Harry Melck who has left to pursue personal interests but will still support the Cape Wine Academy in his capacity as Vice Chairman and member of the educational committee of the Institute of Cape Wine Masters.
